TARA DELANEY

Tara DelaneyTara Delaney is a nationally known child development expert who specializes in sensory processing, autism spectrum disorders, and social/behavioral issues. She is the author of two books: The Sensory Processing Disorder Answer Book (Sourcebooks) and 101 Games and Activities for Children with Autism, Asperger’s and Sensory Processing Disorders (McGraw-Hill).

An active occupational therapist, Ms. Delaney has over twenty years experience in her field with advanced training and education in the practices of sensory integration, therapeutic listening, visualperception, and visual-vestibular integration. She holds a Masters of Science in Therapeutic Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center. She interned at The Waisman Center in Madison and was selected to participate in the leadership program sponsored by The Mother and Child Welfare Grant. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Occupational Therapy Association of California, and the International Adoption Family Network Organization.

A noted consultant and popular seminar speaker, Ms. Delaney works closely with educators and school administrators to create integrated learning environments in classrooms and to provide parents with strategies and skills that foster continued development for their children at home. Her Making Sense-ory? programs are in high demand among educational, parenting, and therapy organizations.

Ms. Delaney is the Founder/Executive Director of School Steps Inc., a company that provides special education services and in depth training to school districts. School Steps Inc. is contracted regularly by school districts for services that include speech therapy, educational psychology, occupational therapy, and school nursing services. She is also the Founder/Executive Director of Baby Steps Therapy, a nonprofit clinical practice focused on helping every child achieve his or her greatest potential in the classroom and beyond.
